Dialogue between IAEA Director General Dr. Rafael Mariano Grossi and UTokyo Students Held at Yayoi Campus

On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, IAEA Director General Dr. Rafael Mariano Grossi visited the Yayoi Campus of the University of Tokyo (UTokyo) to take part in a dialogue event with UTokyo students, held at Ichijo Hall in the Yayoi Auditorium. The event was hosted by the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences and co-hosted by Ocean Alliance Collaboration Research Organization. Approximately 170 participants attended, including undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and faculty members of UTokyo.

The event began with welcoming remarks by Prof. Kazushige Tohara, Dean of the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, followed by a keynote lecture by Dr. Grossi. In his lecture, Dr. Grossi discussed the use of nuclear technology, addressing both its benefits and challenges with its application, and highlighting the IAEA’s contributions to environmental research and areas closely related to the field of agricultural science.

The lecture was followed by an interactive Q&A session between Dr. Grossi and the students, moderated by Prof. Mitsuo Yamamoto, Professor of the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences and Director of the IPADS.
